Unlike the leaves of the dandelion, the leaves of the hops plant are palmately lobed. The common hops plant, whose flowers are used to brew beer, also has lobed leaves. The dandelion is also unique in that the whole plant-including leaves, stems, and flowers-is edible it is used in Chinese, Greek, and Indian cuisine. These leaves can grow over 10 inches long. Though best known for its bright yellow flowers, the plant also has distinct pinnately lobed leaves whose projections vary in size and texture. One of the most famous plants with lobed leaves is the dandelion, which grows throughout Europe and North America. The number of projections on a single leaf varies from species to species. Other lobes are palmate, which means that they radiate from a single point (and resemble a set of fingers and the palm of a hand). Some lobes are pinnate, which means that they are arranged along a central stalk. Some lobe ends are rounded, such as those of the white oak, while others are sharp or pointed, such as those of the northern red oak or the sweetgum. Lobed leaves are those that have distinct projections from the midrib with individual inside veins. The magnolia is named after Pierre Magnol, a French scientist who invented a classification system for plant families based on their physical characteristics. Some parts of the magnolia-including the flower buds-are used in Asian cuisine and in traditional Chinese medicine. The magnolia is the official state flower of Louisiana and Mississippi. Magnolia leaves have a waxy sheen on one side and a matte texture on the other. In 1915, when Japan famously donated cherry trees to Washington, D.C., the United States sent 40 dogwood trees to Japan.Īnother famous tree with unlobed leaves is the magnolia, which grows in North America, Central America, and Southeast Asia. The tree is famous for its pink and white bracts (a type of modified leaf) and is a popular ornamental variety. One of the most well-known trees with unlobed leaves is the flowering dogwood, which grows throughout eastern North America and in parts of northern Mexico. These leaves are said to have "entire" margins. Still others have simple leaves whose margins are indeed quite smooth, including the leaves of the sassafras and eastern redbud. Others have a slightly "wavy" or sinuous leaf margin, such as the leaves of the persimmon. Some unlobed leaves have small serrations called teeth, including the leaves of the sugarbud and the American elm. This does not mean, however, that the margins have to be completely smooth. Unlobed leaves are those that lack significant projections. In the forest crowns are upright and oval with trees reaching up to 100 feet tall and several feet in diameter. The edge of a tree leaf is known as its margin. On older trees smooth patches are not uncommon.įorm: A very large tree when open grown, white oaks have rugged, irregular crowns that are wide spreading, with a stocky bole. The Hamilton High School Hornets compete in the Colonial Valley Conference, which is comprised of public and private high schools located in Mercer County and operates under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). The school was ranked 240th in the magazine's 2008 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state. The magazine ranked the school 262nd in 2008 out of 316 schools. Hamilton High School West is a four-year comprehensive public high school serving students in ninth through twelfth grade located in Hamilton Township, in Mercer County, in the U.S. All of the students appreciate the opportunity to flourish and take serious advantage of it, making more out of themselves so they can do better than the generations before them.40☁1′57″N 74☄3′24″W / 40.1992°N 74.7233°W / 40.1992 -74.7233 There are no pay-offs, no bribes, no unethical means of persuasion, and many of these kids have dealt with difficult things during their lives. Everyone works hard for what they achieve. Another major plus - Nottingham’s district is not comprised of many “rich” families. I learned so much about life during my time at Nottingham, and matured a lot. Students with learning disabilities are well supported. Athletes are held to a very strict standards of maintaining a certain GPA in order to perform. Football players would often quick change into their band uniforms to perform with our Marching Unit during the half-time of games. Our robotics team, which would typically consist of many victims of bullying (according to most high school movies that perpetuate awful stereotypes in order to “teach”), consisted of many “jocks” and the captain during my senior year was also the captain of the lacrosse team. No matter your interest, you can find a group for you and be HAPPY. The morals taught at that school are extraordinary. And one of the greatest things is that, even in instances where bullying would occur, there was ALWAYS a student there in defense of the victim. The school also has multiple state-championship winning athletic teams, with many veteran coaches. In my graduating class, 97% of the students had plans post-graduation. Not every student goes to college, but most go to some sort of Vocational school OR join the service. You won’t find that at all of the schools in this district! (cough cough S******t) One of my favorite things about Nottingham was that it pushed you to succeed in ways that made you HAPPY. The diversity of the school is another wonderful aspect. The honors courses are flourishing in that school, with multiple options throughout the day for almost every class. The AP courses offered are diverse, but AP courses are not the only sign of students’s intelligence! I took AP courses and did not do rather well in most of them. Administrators are willing to become friends (to an appropriate extent) with every student who walks into their building. I had wonderful teachers who truly only cared about the best in their students. Nottingham is the best high school in Hamilton! My four years there were some of the greatest. But once the horror starts after arriving at the apartment building, it never stops. The police are inadvertently challenging them to keep the camera mounted and the power on, as if to make them say, “you can’t tell me what to do.” Acting on journalistic instinct, Pablo and Angela insist on continuing to film partly because they sense a huge story breaking, and partly to spite the authorities telling them not to. When Hell breaks loose, the police on scene put a hand over the lens like a shady businessman wearing a blurry face in a “20/20” exposé. This deceptively simple premise gives the filmmakers a ready-made answer for virtually every common “found footage” criticism, starting with why the camera is perpetually recording. Angela and Pablo are now caught in a different story entirely as infection spreads and humans become something else. After responding to a call of screams from inside an apartment, Angela and Pablo find themselves trapped with the police, firemen, and residents when the building is inexplicably quarantined. As show host and cameraman respectively, they have the much more mundane assignment of following average firemen around Barcelona for a routine night shift. Angela and Pablo are neither amateur filmmakers setting out to intentionally find a witch in the woods nor a ghost hunting reality TV crew searching a haunted building. As more and more people are bitten and turned, Angela and Pablo are forced to barricade themselves inside the penthouse, which is supposedly vacant, but rented by a man from Madrid. Jennifer is chased upstairs where she bites the health inspector. Jennifer suddenly succumbs to the infection and bites her mom. The residents force him to reveal that authorities had the building targeted since receiving a call from a veterinarian regarding a dog with an unknown illness. There’s a whole bunch of good pitching competition in the AL, but the Guardians ably nominate their pair of youngsters. They are part of the core of a staff that has allowed the eighth-fewest runs in the majors this season.
